Tech Policy Advisory, a cornerstone in simplifying regulatory intricacies for businesses and governments in Africa, embarked on a transformative journey to enhance its digital presence. As a solo designer, my goal was to reposition the website, leveraging both aesthetics and UX copy, to effectively target the right audience. The mission was not only to create a visually compelling website but also to establish a clear and inviting UX copy, ensuring that the call to action resonates with precision and purpose.

Tech Policy Advisory, with its commitment to facilitating growth through navigating complex policies, sought a website that not only reflects its professionalism but also engages users intuitively. This case study unveils the strategic design and development process, weaving together user-centric principles, collaborative tools, and an in-depth understanding of the technology law landscape. The journey explores how the integration of Figma and WordPress Elementor, coupled with a comprehensive competitor analysis, resulted in a website that not only meets but exceeds the expectations of both Tech Policy Advisory and its diverse audience.

Research and Planning

Industry Analysis

We took a close look at different companies’ websites to figure out what makes them effective and what falls short. Our goal was to understand the elements that work well for users and identify areas that could be improved.

User Persona Development

In addition to analyzing various companies’ websites, we went the extra mile by having oral interviews with tech founders, some of whom are part of our network of friends. Through these candid conversations and informal chats, we delved into the realm of possibilities, challenges, and potential solutions within the tech industry. This personalized approach allowed us to tap into the firsthand experiences and insights of individuals within our close-knit network, enriching our understanding and influencing our decisions on how to best navigate and overcome the specific challenges in the tech landscape.

Design process with Figma

Collaborative Workshops

Facilitated collaborative design workshops with key stakeholders utilizing Figma, fostering an environment of active engagement and collective ideation. Throughout this iterative process, we meticulously honed and enhanced wireframes, leveraging valuable feedback from stakeholders to ensure the attainment of an optimal user experience. This dynamic approach to refinement was pivotal in aligning the design direction with the diverse perspectives and requirements of stakeholders, ultimately contributing to a robust and user-centric solution.

Prototype

We made sure to thoroughly test our designs with real users to guarantee they’re easy to use and accessible. Using prototypes, we engaged a diverse group of users to watch how they interacted with our designs. This hands-on approach helped us gather insights into what worked well and what needed improvement.
Our focus wasn’t just on functionality; we paid special attention to make sure our designs were accessible to everyone, regardless of their abilities. The feedback we got from these user tests was like a compass, guiding us to make tweaks and improvements. By doing this, we aimed to create a product that not only works seamlessly but is also user-friendly for everyone.
